Wiring setup for cheap $30 7 inch LCD Module from GOODLUCKBUY

Wiring setup for cheap $30 7 inch LCD Module from GOODLUCKBUY

Driving this LCD is my Raspberry PI running XBMC Operating System.

LCD cable pinout.
RED CABLE contains POSITIVE and NEGATIVE

This LCD is the module I bought from www.goodluckbuy.com/7-inch-lcd-car-rearview-digital-monitor-with-rc-gadgets.html for $30. It does’nt have the best resolution but looks pretty awesome running a video. As normal with their website the specifications are missing or wrong.

LCD Specs(ish)
Spec
Resolution 480 X 234 Pixels
Input NTSC & PAL
Display Wide 7-inch colour
Aspec Ratio 16:9 & 4:3
Voltage 7.5v – 12v

The LCD can take a voltage range of 7.5volt to 12volts (thats what I have tested it at and it works fine). You have to cut the RED plug off to power this LCD. Inside the RED cable their is 2 cables, one RED on which is POSITIVE and a loose braid/shielding cable which is NEGATIVE.

Cable Connections
Cable Connection
RED PLUG Power NEGATIVE and POSITIVE in one
WHITE PLUG AV 1 composite video in
YELLOW PLUG AV 2 composite video in
THIN RED CABLE Don't know – No Connection

I think this screen might be good for a set of DIY homebrew LCD FPV goggles, certainly not too expensive to try. The screen is very responsive and does’nt seem to wash or blur with fast movement.

Is this LCD good for FPV? I mean what is it’s behavior when the video signal is missing? Thanks!

I dont have the LCD out atm as it is packed away. I cant remember if the screen goes blue on loss of signal, I really cant remember sorry about that.
